About the Role
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Wayland. This is an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to the smooth and safe operation of a busy prison. You will be part of a dedicated team, performing a wide range of duties that are crucial to the daily functioning of the establishment. Responsibilities
- Provide essential support for the daily operations of HMP Wayland.
- Conduct security checks and searches at the prison entrance.
- Manage incoming deliveries and shipments.
- Supervise visitor interactions.
- Monitor phone calls and CCTV feeds for security purposes.
- Undertake a mix of desk-based tasks and physical duties, including lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within the prison grounds.
- Work a variety of shifts, including weekends and nights, to ensure continuous operation.
Requirements
- No formal qualifications are required.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Good judgment and common sense are necessary.
- Must be a strong team player.
- Consideration for transport options to the prison, as public transport may be limited. A driving licence and personal transport are beneficial but not mandatory unless specified.
