Practice Leader

About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring and passionate leader to join our Tokoroa site in a permanent full-time Practice Leader role dedicated to improving outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau. This position involves leading a motivated team committed to supporting mokopuna and fostering strong relationships that advance better results for families. The Tokoroa site benefits from a supportive environment and a dedicated leadership team.

The Practice Leader will ensure that all practice standards and expectations are upheld by social work staff, collaborating with colleagues to strengthen practice delivery. You will be a driving force in innovating practice methods and creating opportunities for professional growth, mentoring, coaching, and supervising social workers to positively impact our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee social work practice to maintain high standards across the site.
• Coach, develop, and mentor social work staff to enhance their professional capabilities.
• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to improve practice outcomes.
• Foster a supportive team environment focused on achieving meaningful results for whānau.

Candidate Requirements

• Full registration with the New Zealand Social Work Registration Board (SWRB).
• Social work qualification recognized by SWRB.
• Full, clean, current driver's license (with case-by-case consideration for historic convictions).
• Proven expertise in managing complex practice and casework.
• Strong collaboration skills with peers and external partners.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and understanding of Oranga Tamariki’s roles and operations.
• Resilience, initiative, and a proactive outlook.
• Empathy and patience with the ability to see beyond immediate challenges faced by clients.
• Sound judgment alongside effective time management and organizational skills.
• Capability to assess risks and make difficult decisions when necessary.
• High cultural awareness, including knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples' cultures, with confidence in cross-cultural practice.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is competitive, starting from $111,020 to $133,696 annually, depending on experience.
