Role overview
CareChoice is hiring a full-time Physiotherapist for The Marlay Nursing Home in Dublin. This position suits a motivated therapist who wants to improve residents’ quality of life and contribute to a growing nursing home group with more than 20 years of experience in the sector.
Resident care
- Evaluate how illness, disability, injury, and inactivity affect each resident’s ability to function.
- Carry out resident assessments using history-taking, care plans, and other available clinical documentation.
- Design, review, and update personalised treatment plans aligned with resident goals, overall health, functional needs, and evidence-based practice.
- Deliver safe interventions to reduce pain, support mobility, improve fitness, preserve independence, and address functional limitations.
- Use exercise, movement, mobilisation, and other suitable therapies in the nursing home environment to promote mobility and well-being.
- Support residents with joint and spinal conditions, including post-surgical recovery.
- Assist rehabilitation after accidents, injuries, and strokes.
- Measure and track resident health outcomes to assess progress and the impact of physiotherapy input.
- Guide residents, families, and CareChoice staff on prevention and ways to improve conditions.
Management responsibilities
- Take part in managing the physiotherapy service as part of the care team in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, residents, and family members through clear communication.
- Contribute to staff induction and in-service training, including Manual Handling and Patient Moving training.
- Monitor manual handling practices and escalate gaps or concerns to the Assistant Director of Nursing or Director of Nursing.
- Support continuing professional development and research activities relevant to the role.
- Keep records and statistics for organisational and legal use, including incident and injury records, and update the electronic resident care system.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Help supervise and educate student physiotherapists, junior physiotherapists, and physiotherapy support staff when needed.
- Work with other healthcare professionals to share patient information and refer residents for additional medical care where required.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of post-registration experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience caring for older adults.
- Ongoing continuous professional development.
- Current CORU registration is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ability to commute to or relocate to Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 before starting work.
- English language proficiency is required.
- Authorization to work in Ireland is required.
Schedule and location
This is an in-person role based in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, Dublin, Ireland. The expected working pattern includes day shifts, Monday to Friday, with weekend availability.
