Job Overview
This role involves gathering the necessary information to confirm scheduled outpatient hospital appointments by contacting patients directly and coordinating with referring physician offices. Key responsibilities include collecting patient demographic and financial details to establish a comprehensive registered account for visits. Additional duties cover conducting medical necessity assessments, verifying insurance coverage, obtaining insurance copayments, and occasionally confirming prior authorizations. The Patient Access Scheduler serves as a critical link between the ordering physician’s office and various departments within Iredell Health System.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or its equivalent is mandatory.
- A minimum of six months experience in a similar role is required.
- Strong communication capabilities are preferred.
- Proficiency in calculator use is expected.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Availability to work on weekends is necessary.
- Physical capability to perform duties including walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, and prolonged sitting as per the basic FIT test.
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 25 pounds is required.
