Role Overview

Following an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Parcels Manager to direct day-to-day operations of our Christchurch Parcels site. This role demands hands-on leadership to ensure safe and efficient freight movement, continuous support of the team, and adherence to operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operational planning and execution for the Parcels service.
  • Oversee freight flow, labor allocation, and prioritize operational tasks.
  • Drive performance metrics related to service quality, safety, productivity, and compliance.
  • Coach and develop team members to foster accountability and enhance capability.
  • Maintain strong communication channels and set precise expectations within the team.
  • Ensure adherence to scanning, labeling, endorsements, and dangerous goods protocols.
  • Identify and address safety risks, hazards, and compliance issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with Transport, Customer Service, Claims, and leadership teams to achieve Delivered In Full On Time (DIFOT) targets.
  • Provide transparent operational updates and participate in site leadership initiatives.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a practical, engaged operations leader who thrives amid the fast pace and complexity of parcel logistics, leading by example from the floor and cultivating a culture centered on accountability, safety, and ongoing improvement.

Essential qualifications and skills include:

  • Leadership experience in parcel, courier, or time-sensitive freight operations.
  • Strong capability to manage teams, balance priorities, and enhance operational outcomes.
  • Understanding of key performance indicators and scanning compliance protocols.
  • Committed to safety, customer service excellence, and continuous process enhancement.
  • A valid New Zealand Class 1 Driver's Licence.
  • Possession of Dangerous Goods (DG) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Forklift licences or readiness to obtain them.

Benefits

  • Membership in a proactive team committed to building a legacy of operational excellence.
  • Coverage for 80% of medical expenses up to NZD 1500 annually via our staff welfare trust.
  • Access to discounted holiday accommodations nationwide.
  • Opportunity to engage with a multinational company offering career prospects across New Zealand and Australia.
  • Commitment to the highest Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.

Additional Information

This position is based onsite in Christchurch. Team Global Express maintains an Alcohol and Drug-Free workplace. Pre-employment screening includes Ministry of Justice checks, drug and alcohol testing, medical assessments, and reference verification.

Applicants must have immediate legal authorization to work in New Zealand. Communication will only be conducted through official recruitment channels.
