Overview
This full-time position based in West Palm Beach, FL focuses on leading operations and product delivery for wireless concrete Embedded Data Collection (EDC) solutions used in structural monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative wireless embedded data collection products for concrete structural monitoring and enhance associated processes.
- Detect and troubleshoot defective components, products, and manufacturing methods.
- Implement error-proofing techniques such as Poka-Yoke and Design for Assembly (DFA) to optimize assembly workflows.
- Supervise printed circuit board and sensor unit assembly, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Engage in hands-on assembly work, defect rework, and board-level testing to ensure reliability before field deployment.
- Create and update assembly instructions, build documents, and quality control checklists.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to update assembly procedures reflecting product design changes.
- Manage vendor quality issues including corrective actions, pricing negotiations, and part approvals.
- Oversee product part drawings and implement barcode-based inventory tracking systems.
- Coordinate and participate in installation activities at field sites, handling unit setup, connectivity issues, software troubleshooting, and gauge installations.
- Act as the primary technical support contact during on-site installations.
- Lead and manage direct reports, handling performance evaluations, time tracking, daily operation oversight, and expense approvals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline; an MBA is advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in operations, product development, or field engineering, preferably in structural monitoring, IoT/sensor hardware, or similar industries.
- Proficient with embedded systems, wireless data collection, and sensor hardware.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) and DFA.
- Experience managing vendor relations, corrective action workflows, and negotiating supplier costs.
- Familiarity with PCB assembly, rework, and testing procedures.
- Willingness to travel for field installations on active construction and infrastructure sites.
Preferred Credentials
- Experience with barcode inventory or comparable asset tracking technologies.
- Previous management experience with direct reports and administrative responsibilities.
- Background in civil or structural engineering environments such as bridges, large buildings, dams, or concrete infrastructure.
