Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Office Manager to join a thriving business situated in Chester. This permanent, full-time position is office-based with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth daily functioning of the company by delivering operational, administrative, and HR support across the organization. Reporting to the leadership team, the Office Manager will act as a dependable contact for employees, suppliers, and visitors while fostering a well-organized, professional, and positive workplace atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Manage all daily office operations including facilities, equipment maintenance, and supplies inventory.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, visitors, suppliers, and incoming queries.
- Assist the leadership team with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings and travel arrangements.
- Coordinate employee onboarding, maintain personnel records, administer benefits, and handle HR-related administration.
- Work collaboratively with external HR consultants regarding policies and employee issues.
- Support the finance department with invoice management, expense tracking, and related administrative duties.
- Manage vendor relationships including suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
- Organize internal events, team-building activities, and meetings.
- Ensure office compliance by maintaining health and safety standards and relevant policies.
- Coordinate IT equipment management, software access authorization, and handle troubleshooting requests.
- Oversee general correspondence, document management, and office administration.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance internal processes and improve the employee experience.
Requirements
- Previous or current experience in office management, business administration, or operational roles.
- Experience supporting HR tasks including employee onboarding and maintaining records.
- Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace platforms.
- Comfort in working directly with senior leaders, staff members, and external vendors.
- High level of discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with confidence in taking initiative and ownership.
- Availability to work on site at the Chester office during standard hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in fast-paced small to medium enterprises or growing businesses.
- Familiarity with facilities management, health and safety practices, or office compliance.
- Track record of organizing internal meetings, events, or employee engagement programs.
- Background in marketing, professional services, or creative industries would be advantageous but not required.
