About the Company
The Mercure Manchester Norton Grange Hotel and Spa is a tranquil 4-star establishment located in the countryside, 8 miles from Manchester City Centre. The hotel features 81 modern guest rooms with wireless internet and satellite TV, elegant dining at the newly refurbished Pickwick Bar and Restaurant, and spa amenities including an indoor heated pool, fitness room, and massage treatments. Function rooms accommodate up to 200 guests.
Job Purpose and Reporting
The Night Porter reports to the Revenue Manager/Conference Manager and is responsible for preparing function spaces as outlined in daily function sheets and conducting night audit reports as required by the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of hotel products and services.
- Deliver prompt, friendly, and efficient bar service tailored to customers' needs, maximizing sales opportunities through upselling.
- Accurately manage room service orders and handle complaints professionally with genuine care.
- Manage stock, cash, and consumables in the bar area, ensuring security and compliance with licensing laws and company procedures.
- Follow company key and cash float control systems rigorously.
- Report any incidents that may violate licensing regulations to a superior promptly.
- Perform bar duties tidily to minimize waste and maintain good stock control.
- Uphold the hotel's 4-star core standards consistently.
- Assist in keeping banqueting areas clean and tidy.
- Ensure proper service of all food and beverages according to company standards, including necessary preparation before and after service.
- Carry out night audit reports as required.
- Comply with health, safety, and welfare legislation for staff and customers.
- Participate in training sessions, communication meetings, and fire safety training as mandated by the company.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Location and Work Authorization
The position is on-site at Rochdale, OL11 2XZ. Candidates must be willing to reliably commute or relocate prior to starting work. Work authorization for the United Kingdom is mandatory.
