Role overview
This position is responsible for keeping the organisation’s network and security environment running effectively, supporting day-to-day operations, and helping deliver technology changes that align with business priorities. It also involves completing assigned projects to the expected scope, budget, and timeline.
About the department
The Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team delivers business technology and change across four areas: Governance, Projects & Change, Delivery, and Technical Operations. The department supports both TFSUK and KINTO UK. Its purpose is to provide the business with the right technology, guide teams through change with expertise, and protect the business at all times.
Key duties
- Partner with colleagues to make sure security policies and operational procedures are in place to protect the business.
- Handle daily cyber security operations to keep the environment secure and stable.
- Support, maintain, and improve IT security platforms such as next-generation firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, SIEM tools, endpoint security tools, and related services.
- Investigate security alerts and incidents, including analysing breaches and responding appropriately.
- Support and maintain the organisation’s network estate, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices, LAN, WAN, internet connectivity, B2B links, remote access solutions, network load balancing, and Wi-Fi.
- Identify internal and external threats, document incidents, recommend corrective actions, and implement fixes where suitable.
- Contribute to cyber security projects and support the rollout of new protective controls across the business.
- Monitor SIEM data sources and threat feeds and act on findings when needed.
- Deploy and manage firewall and encryption tools to protect sensitive information.
- Support technical delivery of security requirements, including access control and technical audits.
- Assess risk on an ongoing basis and report findings to the line manager to support informed security decisions.
- Review threats and fine-tune monitoring platforms to improve detection capability.
- Develop, update, and review security policies and controls based on business needs.
- Manage incidents and service requests in line with service level agreements.
- Keep up to date with emerging cyber security products, standards, and best practice.
- Apply patches to security devices promptly and address vulnerabilities to maintain strong protection.
- Carry out daily checks across the security estate to prevent downtime, breaches, and network weaknesses.
- Maintain operational policies, procedures, and standards that support the wider business.
- Create and update technical documentation so others can support the environment in your absence.
- Take part in disaster recovery and business continuity testing, development, and maintenance.
- Recommend and implement technology solutions based on business needs and new technical developments.
- Manage small works requests using the agreed process.
- Work with third-party suppliers to ensure service, support, and maintenance commitments are met.
- Provide specialist technical input during the planning and development of new systems and projects.
- Maintain accurate IT equipment inventory records.

- Suggest practical improvements to team processes and working methods.
- Support ad hoc projects as they arise.

- Work with other teams to resolve escalated issues quickly and efficiently.
- Spot possible problem areas early and help put prevention measures in place.
- Carry out housekeeping and maintenance tasks when required.
Compensation and working arrangements
The role includes a competitive salary and benefits package. Additional pay may be available for on-call duties and overtime linked to operational needs.
The benefits package includes a hybrid working pattern of 2 days in the office and 3 days from a location of your choice, although the role itself is based onsite in Epsom, England, United Kingdom.
