About the Role
A partner company based in Ireland seeks a Network Planning Technical Project Manager to lead the design and deployment of connectivity infrastructure essential for next-generation cloud and AI platforms. This position involves managing complex network rollouts, serving as the primary liaison between internal infrastructure teams, engineering groups, and external telecommunications partners. Responsibilities span from conducting site evaluations and designing fiber architecture to handling commercial negotiations and overseeing deployment execution.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead comprehensive connectivity infrastructure projects from initial site opportunity assessment through to outside plant (OSP) delivery and operational readiness.
- Collaborate extensively with network technical program managers, data center teams, engineers, procurement specialists, and construction teams to ensure seamless project completion.
- Assess connectivity feasibility for new data center sites, validating long-haul wave solutions, dark fiber options, and network designs.
- Serve as the technical authority over fiber pathway architecture, including route diversity, manhole placement, conduit layouts, and site entry design.
- Coordinate the design and build of Point of Entry (POE) and Meet-Me Room (MMR) infrastructures aimed at supporting high-capacity, multi-carrier fiber deployments.
- Maintain strategic partnerships with telecommunications providers, fiber owners, utilities, and other infrastructure collaborators.
- Support procurement processes like RFx, contract negotiations, fiber lease agreements, IRUs, and long-term connectivity contracts.
- Manage commercial and technical dialogues with external partners to ensure adherence to schedules and infrastructure specifications.
- Keep precise records of connectivity assets, fiber routes, and infrastructure blueprints using geospatial data and documentation tools.
- Review, update, and create infrastructure designs employing AutoCAD to aid physical network deployments.
- Contribute to capacity planning, network growth strategies, and ongoing enhancement of connectivity workflows.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years' experience in network infrastructure, outside plant (OSP) planning, telecommunications, or managing data center connectivity projects.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic technology, DWDM systems, inline amplification, and managed optical fiber networks.
- Proven experience handling complex infrastructure projects with various internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Track record of negotiating and managing commercial contracts involving fiber leases, IRUs, construction agreements, or connectivity services.
- Expertise in AutoCAD for site infrastructure and conduit system design review and creation.
- Proficiency with GIS and geospatial data tools, including handling KMZ/KML files.
- Excellent stakeholder management abilities to influence partners and drive delivery under ambitious deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of regional fiber infrastructure, utility right-of-way considerations, and connectivity challenges preferred.
- Experience with large-scale capacity planning and deployments in environments exceeding 100Tbps is advantageous.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Go for infrastructure automation is beneficial.
- Understanding of service provider networking or data center IP networking is a plus.
Benefits
- Competitive salary package.
- Flexible remote work arrangements across Europe, with options to access international offices.
- High degree of autonomy and ownership in driving impactful infrastructure projects.
- Opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning within advanced cloud and AI infrastructure domains.
- Chance to participate in significant technology projects with a global footprint.
- Supportive, innovative culture with a diverse and talented international workforce.
- Fast-paced environment emphasizing meaningful technical challenges and continuous improvements.
