Overview
Join Edison Smart® as a Network Infrastructure Manager in Doha, Qatar, where you will architect and oversee high-level network plans and systems critical to supporting business operations. Your role will involve crafting strategic designs, setting standards, and managing communication and network infrastructures aligned with service level targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and direct comprehensive strategic plans for network infrastructure aligning with corporate goals.
- Provide visionary leadership in evolving the network architecture to meet anticipated business demands.
- Lead large-scale network projects ensuring delivery on schedule, within financial limits and maintaining quality standards.
- Establish governance structures for projects, adhering to best practices and promoting continuous innovation and enhancements in network infrastructure.
- Evaluate and integrate new technology trends such as cloud computing, SaaS, and data analytics to augment network effectiveness.
- Communicate project status, risks, and deliverables efficiently to stakeholders at various organizational levels.
- Manage and develop a skilled team of network engineers and project managers, facilitating resource allocation and skill enhancement.
- Identify and mitigate risks in network infrastructure projects and operational activities.
- Forge and manage strategic relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, oversee SLAs, and monitor vendor performance proactively.
- Design and test disaster recovery plans ensuring compliance with performance and service delivery benchmarks.
- Oversee technical, professional, and support staff dedicated to network infrastructure tasks.
Communication and Documentation Skills
- Translate technical concepts distinctly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Produce precise, user-friendly documentation related to projects and standard operating procedures.
- Expertly negotiate with vendors and resolve conflicts to guarantee successful project outcomes.
- Develop comprehensive RFPs, RFQs, and related vendor selection documentation.
Problem-Solving Expertise
- Lead team efforts in resolving intricate network infrastructure issues effectively.
- Provide solutions for escalated internal challenges.
Experience and Expertise
- More than 15 years managing enterprise-scale network environments supporting substantial business entities.
- Deep experience in designing, deploying, and managing extensive distributed network infrastructures across multiple sites.
- Familiarity with client operational environments featuring multi-tenancy, shared infrastructure, and service segregation.
- Comprehensive understanding of network technologies, protocols, security, and industry best practices across core, data center, WAN, and access networks.
- Skill balancing technical depth with operational, managerial, and strategic duties.
- Strong grasp of project/program management including planning, risk mitigation, and governance.
- Financial acumen in budgeting, procurement, vendor evaluation, and contract management.
- Track record of continuous service optimization in complex IT network environments.
- Proven leadership in managing, mentoring, and developing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation abilities, especially in client and vendor contexts.
- Academic credentials: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, or related disciplines.
- At least 8 years in network infrastructure management supported by over 10 years network technical experience in large multi-site enterprises.
- Highly recommended certifications: CCIE (SP, R&S, Wireless, Data Center); PMP or equivalent considered beneficial.
Technical Knowledge
- Expertise in routing and switching protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Monitoring tools for network performance oversight and resource optimization.
- Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues promptly.
- Capacity planning techniques for scalable and performant networks.
- Disaster recovery planning and implementation skills ensuring network robustness.
- Hands-on management of vendor relationships and service contracts.
- Understanding cloud computing integration into networks.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as ACI, NSX, SD-WAN, SD-Access.
- Experience with VPN technologies including IPSec, DMVPN, GRE, GETVPN.
- Wireless networking proficiency covering 802.11 standards, controllers, RF management, and security protocols.
- Familiarity with advanced networking protocols and technologies: LDP, L3VPN, L2VPN, VPLS, AToM, CsC, Inter-AS, MPLS-TE, FRR.
- Expertise in routing protocols such as BGP and MP-BGP for managing complex network traffic flows.
