Overview
Join a leading construction materials company as a Multi Skilled Operative based at Dolyhir and Strinds Quarry near Presteigne, Herefordshire. This hands-on position offers a dynamic operational role in a safety-conscious environment, perfect for those with prior experience in quarrying, industrial production, construction, or manufacturing settings. You will be integral to the production of dry aggregates critical for major construction projects and have the chance to expand your skills by operating heavy machinery and receiving ongoing training.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various machinery involved in the handling and processing of aggregates across the quarry site
- Maintain cleanliness and order through site housekeeping duties to uphold safety standards
- Manage the weighbridge operations accurately and efficiently
- Drive loading shovels as required
- Assist in routine maintenance tasks to support plant operations
- Champion a workplace culture focused on zero harm and behavioural safety practices
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Receive training and operate static plant equipment to improve plant efficiency and optimisation
Candidate Profile
- Experience working as an operative, labourer, or production team member in quarry, asphalt plant, industrial or construction environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- A positive, flexible mindset with a proactive approach to tasks
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-skilled team environment
- Eagerness to continuously learn and develop new competencies
- Self-driven and able to motivate both self and peers
- Understanding of workplace risk assessments
- Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and permit-to-work systems is advantageous but not mandatory
- Committed to the organisation's standards, goals, and safe work practices
- Knowledge of the quarry or aggregates industry would be a benefit
