Job Overview
BA Blacktop Ltd. is actively searching for a proficient and safety-conscious Millwright to join their team in Abbotsford, British Columbia. This position is crucial for supporting asphalt plant operations by ensuring machinery is well-maintained, repaired, and operating efficiently to maximize production uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct repairs and aid in the installation or relocation of plant equipment as required.
- Carry out both preventive and corrective maintenance on asphalt plant machinery.
- Troubleshoot and fix issues related to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.
- Inspect, service, and replace components like bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, motors, and pumps on rotating equipment.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and metal repair tasks as necessary.
- Maintain critical equipment including drum mixers, asphalt silos, batch towers, baghouses, crushers, and aggregate handling systems.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals accurately.
- Handle equipment alignment, installations, and maintenance shutdown operations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines, environmental laws, and industrial standards.
- Document maintenance activities through work orders, reports, and inspections.
- Collaborate proactively with plant operators and supervisors to reduce downtime and enhance equipment performance.
- Participate effectively in emergency repair responses and planned maintenance shutdowns.
Qualifications
- Possession of a Red Seal Millwright Certification or similar Industrial Mechanic credential, or partial completion of Millwright certification coursework.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance environments.
- Familiarity with conveyors, crushers, screening machinery, pumps, and material handling equipment.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding techniques.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical and mechanical documentation.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
- Strong dedication to maintaining safety in the workplace.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in asphalt, aggregate, construction materials, mining, or other heavy industry settings.
- Welding certification and hands-on fabrication skills.
- Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Experience operating mobile equipment such as loaders, skid steers, and forklifts.
Compensation
The starting pay rate for this position is $48.09 per hour.
