Microbiology Lab Technician

Position Overview

We are looking to hire a microbiology laboratory technician to become part of our collaborative team of food industry experts. This role involves various laboratory responsibilities such as processing samples, preparing media, data recording, and more.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and process incoming samples promptly and accurately
• Maintain precise and comprehensive data records
• Conduct Quality Assurance checks to uphold laboratory standards
• Operate laboratory instruments including scales and autoclaves proficiently
• Ensure cleanliness of glassware, work areas, and laboratory tools
• Prepare media for tests and experiments
• Carry out pipetting tasks and perform serial dilution procedures
• Collect samples from multiple locations as required
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Candidate Requirements

• Laboratory experience is desirable; aseptic technique knowledge is an advantage but not mandatory
• Capability to manage multiple tasks and adjust effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
• Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Office applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Possesses a clean driving record
• Flexible working hours with availability for weekends, evenings, and overtime shifts
• Good mathematical skills
• Physical ability to lift weights up to 35 pounds
• Self-driven with a strong commitment to work ethic
• Spanish language skills are an asset
• Background in science is favorable
• Professional skill set is an added benefit

Compensation

The position offers an hourly rate starting between $21 and $22.
