Role Overview
We are looking for a Merchandise Processing Supervisor to manage and lead back-of-house operations essential for an efficient store. This role oversees the entire merchandise processing cycle, including sorting, grading, tagging, and preparation for sales floor display. You will lead and mentor a team responsible for processing and recycling activities, ensure quality, safety, and productivity standards are met, and collaborate closely with store leadership to maintain smooth merchandise flow. This position supports hiring, training, coaching, and promotes a positive work culture aligned with Talize's mission of sustainable and affordable fashion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily merchandise processing workflows such as sorting, grading, pricing, tagging, rolling, and ragging.
- Oversee inventory movement to the sales floor by prioritizing categories and pacing processing tasks.
- Support preparation and execution for sale days, ensuring floor readiness and operational coordination.
- Lead, train, and coach team members and recyclers to achieve productivity and quality objectives.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and ongoing performance management.
- Enhance team engagement and morale via recognition initiatives and fostering collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, monitor personal protective equipment use, and promptly address hazards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and standards-compliant working environment.
- Facilitate clear communication with leadership, peers, and interdepartmental teams to align goals and deliver results.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a fast-paced setting.
- Proven abilities in people management and delegation.
- Adaptable and agile in managing processes.
- Skills in conflict resolution and coaching are advantageous.
- Business awareness and problem-solving capability.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- Experience in thrift, second-hand retail, or retail warehouse environments is preferred, with at least two years in warehouse roles.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Capability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver wheeled containers weighing up to 500 pounds.
- Occasional exposure to dust, dirt, insects, garbage, and rodents during regular activities.
- Flexible scheduling including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and frequent customer interaction.
