Overview
The Manager - Production role involves leadership and oversight of all manufacturing activities at the plant to ensure production is safe, efficient, cost-effective, and meets quality and business targets. The position focuses on optimizing the utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and utilities to drive productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily manufacturing operations to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
- Manage workforce, machinery, utilities, and raw materials to enhance operational efficiency.
- Track production metrics and implement corrective measures to achieve targets.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Promote a robust safety culture through EHS initiatives, audits, and risk management.
- Maintain compliance with certifications such as ISO and GMP.
- Enhance productivity while minimizing costs, wastage, and downtime.
- Optimize equipment effectiveness, production yield, and resource usage.
- Lead, mentor, and develop production staff including supervisors and operators.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
- Support preventive maintenance, shutdowns, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, TPM, 5S, and Kaizen practices.
- Monitor KPIs like output, productivity, quality, safety, and cost parameters.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, EHS, and R&D teams for seamless plant operations.
- Prepare operational reviews and devise improvement plans for senior management.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- At least 10 years in Chemical, Adhesives, Specialty Chemicals, Paints, Petrochemical, or Process Manufacturing sectors.
- B.E./B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
- Proven expertise in production management and leadership in manufacturing contexts.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical production processes and process safety protocols.
- Familiarity with GMP, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, TPM, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
- Experienced in leading production teams and managing human resources effectively.
- Skilled in driving productivity gains, lowering manufacturing expenses, and boosting efficiency.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Track record managing safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EHS.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Data-oriented mindset focusing on KPIs such as OEE, yield, safety, and quality metrics.
