About the Company
Wairakei Resort Taupō, one of New Zealand's renowned resorts, is seeking a practical and motivated Maintenance Assistant to join their Engineering team on a part-time, fixed-term contract until April 1, 2027.
Role Overview
In this hands-on role, you will ensure that the resort's accommodation, public spaces, and guest amenities are maintained to exceptional standards. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your duties will encompass a range of repairs, maintenance, and painting tasks, supporting both independent and team environments to sustain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general repair work and preventative maintenance across the resort.
- Deliver high-quality painting, plastering, and finishing services.
- Quickly address guest maintenance requests and reported faults.
- Contribute to room refurbishments and improvement initiatives.
- Conduct routine inspections to detect maintenance issues proactively.
- Maintain outdoor areas including paths, gardens, signage, and resort facilities as needed.
- Operate and upkeep tools and equipment safely.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety requirements during all tasks.
- Assist the Engineering team with scheduled maintenance and significant projects.
- Keep the workshop and storage areas clean, orderly, and well-stocked.
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience in maintenance, handyman roles, building, or trades.
- Proficient in painting and finishing with attention to quality.
- Strong practical skills coupled with effective problem solving.
- Ability to independently manage workload and prioritize tasks.
- Meticulous attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Physical fitness to lift and carry equipment as required.
- Positive mindset and team-oriented attitude.
- A current full New Zealand driver's licence is preferred.
- Willingness to work hours between 7am and 8pm on a roster basis, including weekends.
