Job Overview

As a Lab Assistant Manager at JMS Singapore Pte. Ltd., you will lead and mentor the team of Lab Analysts and Controllers (including chemists and microbiologists) to ensure precise analytical testing. The role focuses on maintaining safe, reliable testing processes that support manufacturing operations while adhering to industry standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, and coach laboratory personnel in analytical test execution.
• Guarantee that data review and analysis align with safety and reliability standards to support manufacturing workflows.
• Ensure compliance of laboratory operations with EN ISO 13485, cGMP, JQMS, and Good Documentation Practices.
• Manage daily lab operations including problem-solving and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supervise lab technicians and analysts in testing activities, including troubleshooting equipment, managing failures, and conducting investigations.
• Analyze analytical test results for raw materials and final products, proactively monitoring for trends to avoid out-of-specification scenarios.
• Conduct root cause analyses for test failures and implement corrective actions, ensuring all measures are completed and decisions are formed on scientific and risk-based reasoning.
• Maintain inventory control for lab consumables, chemicals, and supplies to ensure operational continuity.
• Coordinate staff scheduling and assign duties to meet operational needs.
• Develop, review, and approve standard operating procedures related to equipment use and laboratory controls.
• Provide training for lab teams on equipment operation, testing methods, and standard operating procedures.
• Continuously evaluate lab processes and promote safety and improvement initiatives.
• Lead or support Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) projects, overseeing scope and performance.
• Address employee conduct and productivity concerns through counseling and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Lab Manager.

Candidate Requirements

• At least 2 years of technical experience in a Quality Control laboratory within the medical device, pharmaceutical, food, chemical, or process manufacturing industries.
• Supervisory or management experience overseeing teams of laboratory technicians, analysts, chemists, or microbiologists is advantageous.
• Familiarity with operating Laboratory Information Management Systems is a plus.
• Willingness to travel within the Asia-Pacific region when required.
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
