Role Overview

As a Junior Safeguarding Controller for the APAC region, you will work alongside an established team of safeguarding experts and report directly to the Global Safeguarding Accountable Owner. This role supports safeguarding controls for payments, e-money, and investment services, offering you a unique opportunity to understand the crossover between these regulatory frameworks. Joining during an exciting period of product development and expansion, you will help ensure the safeguarding framework operates efficiently across the APAC entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring new product launches comply with safeguarding regulations and implement measures proportionate to risks.
• Maintain completeness and accuracy of safeguarding policies and procedures, coordinating with controllers to confirm adherence and attestations to the controls framework.
• Organize and administer first-line defense assurance activities for safeguarding controls in the APAC region.
• Update and manage the safeguarding risk and controls matrix specific to APAC entities.
• Serve as the initial point of escalation for any discrepancies found by the Reconciliations team related to safeguarding, providing subject matter expertise and advice for resolution.
• Participate in incident management by linking incidents with control failures, enabling senior management to identify risk patterns.
• Prepare regulatory reports, including those for the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and other safeguarding authorities.
• Coordinate annual safeguarding audits effectively.
• Document and improve the internal control environment by mapping risks, controls, and processes within the company’s risk management software.

Candidate Profile

• A strong desire to understand the fintech sector and the processes behind high-volume financial transactions.
• Existing technical knowledge of safeguarding regulations in the APAC region, preferably Singapore, regarding investment business and payment services, with eagerness to learn more.
• Excellent written communication skills to clearly explain regulatory requirements and potential risks to non-expert colleagues.
• A proactive and solution-focused attitude, demonstrating willingness to take initiative and resolve complex issues.
• Good commercial awareness to balance risk management with business growth objectives.
• Team player mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse, multinational environment.
• A motivation to learn about fintech operations within a fast-growing scale-up.
• Willingness to participate in remote collaboration across global teams and occasional travel related to treasury initiatives.
