About the Role
Conack, a rapidly expanding construction company in Ireland renowned for delivering award-winning projects across various sectors, is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. This position is based in Athlone and offers an exceptional opportunity for an early-career Quantity Surveyor to gain practical experience on a significant pharmaceutical construction project.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the commercial team in managing finances of a major pharmaceutical project
- Prepare cost reports, valuations, and payment applications under guidance
- Support procurement activities for subcontractors and suppliers
- Organize and distribute subcontract documentation
- Measure and value the work done by subcontractors
- Contribute to drafting and settling variations and final accounts
- Track project costs and assist in budget management throughout project phases
- Maintain thorough commercial records and project documentation
- Coordinate with Project Managers, on-site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
- Assist in tender submissions and commercial reporting as necessary
- Gain hands-on insight into commercially managing a technically complex, high-value build
Candidate Profile
- Degree holder in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a similar field
- Possess 1 to 3 years of Quantity Surveying experience or equivalent industry placement
- Strong commercial awareness coupled with solid numerical capabilities
- Good knowledge of construction contracts and principles of cost management
- Excellent communication and organizational competencies
- Proficient IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and commercial management software
- Driven, proactive, and passionate about establishing a career in Quantity Surveying
- Experience on construction projects within Ireland is advantageous
- Prior involvement with pharmaceutical, industrial, or commercial projects is beneficial but not mandatory
