Overview
IPS is a global front-runner specializing in consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV services for complex facilities, particularly in the life sciences sector. We are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding construction team based in Dublin, Ireland.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will bring expert knowledge of construction costs and contracts, managing contractual and financial facets to ensure projects remain within budget. Key duties include valuation of construction work, bidding, budgeting, billing, estimating services, and supporting business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile service estimates for projects to support corporate goals.
- Produce detailed construction cost estimates to aid project planning and control.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and upkeep of estimation tools and systems.
- Collaborate with Project Executives and Managers to gather input data for estimates.
- Generate project estimates utilizing drawings, specs, scope, and design basis.
- Maintain organized records of estimates and supporting documentation for project reference.
- Analyze historical data such as purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity reports, and integrate findings into company cost models.
- Monitor subcontract and purchase order awards, compare costs with budgets, identify variances, and refine estimation models accordingly.
- Evaluate design alternatives recommending options based on cost-effectiveness, engineering soundness, and material availability.
- Build and sustain industry relationships to secure timely estimating data.
- Prepare estimate support for project change management processes.
- Partner with project leadership to ensure project delivery aligns with initial estimates.
- Review requests for proposal, attend pre-bid meetings, and liaise with bid teams to support proposal preparation.
- Fulfill additional tasks or special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline, or equivalent technical qualification.
- At least 3 to 6 years of relevant industry experience with involvement in project delivery, estimating, and cost control.
- Knowledge or experience with MEP systems and cost estimating tools considered advantageous.
