Role Overview
Matheson LLP is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer with 3 to 5 years post-qualification experience to join their IP Disputes team in Dublin. This role involves managing complex, multi-jurisdictional IP disputes for key international and domestic clients across sectors including technology, life sciences, and consumer goods. The successful candidate will have a leadership role mentoring junior associates and collaborating closely with partners to expand and enhance the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle intricate IP disputes spanning multiple jurisdictions and collaborate with in-house legal teams to devise global IP strategies.
- Engage as part of interdisciplinary specialist teams on high-value and critical client projects.
- Supervise and mentor junior and associate lawyers to support their professional growth.
- Participate actively in business development initiatives including attending international conferences and client engagement activities abroad.
- Contribute to thought leadership in IP law through Matheson's client knowledge programmes.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified solicitor with 3 to 5 years PQE specializing in intellectual property law.
- Comprehensive experience across IP domains including trademarks, patents, copyrights, designs, and trade secrets.
- Proven capabilities in managing IP portfolios and handling filings with the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland and the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
- Background in IP licensing, assignments, and drafting commercial agreements.
- Possesses strong technical knowledge and a solid track record in business development.
- Client-oriented with a commitment to exceeding client expectations consistently.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload independently while delivering high-quality, commercially-focused advice and leading junior lawyers effectively.
- Demonstrates passion for IP law, resilience, and the capacity to build robust relationships with a varied client and colleague base.
