Information Technology Support Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a reputable Irish consultancy based in Dublin, is looking to expand their IT team by hiring an experienced IT Support Engineer. This full-time position offers an annual salary between €40,000 and €45,000, with occasional travel to multiple sites. It is ideal for candidates with a solid IT support background seeking to enhance skills in systems administration, networking, and infrastructure through hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver first-level IT support to users both in office and remote locations.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related problems.
• Maintain and support Windows Server environments, Hyper-V virtualization, networking devices, and end-user hardware.
• Perform structured network cabling tasks, manage patch panels, and upkeep communication rooms.
• Administer user accounts using Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID platforms.
• Record, track, and resolve IT incidents with appropriate escalation when necessary.
• Keep technical documentation and infrastructure records accurately updated.
• Manage IT assets including hardware, software licenses, and related items.
• Support endpoint protection, patch management, and monitoring of systems.
• Assist with backup monitoring routines and disaster recovery processes.
• Deploy computing equipment such as laptops, desktops, printers, and VoIP devices.
• Contribute to continuous IT environment improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Two to four years of professional experience in IT support or systems administration roles.
• Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or related fields.
• Proficient knowledge of Windows desktop and server platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 suite, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Entra ID management.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory and user management.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent communication skills coupled with a customer-oriented mindset.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
• Valid full driving license with flexibility to travel to other locations as necessary.

Preferred Skills

• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.
• Experience administering Hyper-V virtual environments.
• Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment, SonicWall firewalls, and Veeam backup solutions.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards (Cat5e/Cat6).
• Basic scripting skills in PowerShell or Bash.
• Exposure to macOS and Linux operating systems.
