About the Role

Join the dedicated lifesaving team based in Columbus, MS, with the opportunity to receive a sign-on bonus up to $100,000 and access off-duty housing. This role involves piloting helicopter air ambulances under CAMTS guidelines as a Captain on the EC135, requiring an instrument rating.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Helicopter Air Ambulance missions, including day and night rotations, providing rapid medical transport and critical care delivery.
  • Fulfill line pilot duties in accordance with operational and general operating manuals.
  • Assist with loading and unloading patients and medical equipment, requiring physical lifting.
  • Engage in community outreach programs as part of PHI Health’s commitment to service.
  • Support safety initiatives including the Safety Management System and Destination Zero safety campaign.
  • Maintain strong teamwork and communication with internal teams and external customers to ensure safe, efficient, and courteous service.

Candidate Requirements

  • Hold commercial and instrument helicopter pilot certifications, including First Class Medical certification.
  • Meet CAMTS helicopter flight hour standards: minimum 2,000 total flight hours, including 1,500 hours in helicopters, 1,000 hours PIC in helicopters, 500 hours on turbine helicopters, and night operation hours (100 unaided night operations or 50 unaided plus 100 NVG hours).
  • Complete at least 75 hours of instrument flying (actual and hood time).
  • Comply with flight personnel weight restriction policy (maximum 235 lbs).
  • Pass pre-placement physical and functional capacity exams, drug screening, and background check.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and customer service capabilities.
  • Be approved by PHI management following interview and acceptance procedures.
