Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist to work remotely with occasional travel within Mississippi. This key position involves acting as both a strategic advisor and practical resource for business leaders across assigned regions. The role covers various HR functions such as onboarding, employee relations, legal compliance, performance oversight, and policy enforcement. Maintaining a positive workplace culture and supporting organizational growth are critical aspects of this role. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, extensive knowledge of applicable HR laws, and the ability to independently manage multiple responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Safeguard confidentiality concerning HR matters and sensitive company information.
- Execute and uphold HR objectives at the regional level.
- Carry out exit interviews and analyze data to detect trends and improvement opportunities.
- Generate and deliver regular HR reports to management.
- Organize and facilitate pre-employment activities, including onboarding and orientation sessions.
- Ensure full compliance with company HR policies and relevant local, state, and federal laws.
- Handle complex employee relations issues, perform investigations, and propose solutions.
- Review and approve or deny documentation related to FMLA, short-term disability, life insurance, and workers' compensation claims.
- Offer advice to management regarding employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary procedures.
- Draft internal communications and updates for both employees and HR teams.
- Oversee workers' compensation claims in the assigned region.
- Plan and coordinate employee engagement events sponsored by the company.
- Represent the organization during unemployment claim proceedings.
- Conduct additional assignments as requested by the Chief People Officer to support HR initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ professional HR experience, preferably within multi-location healthcare settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR laws applicable to the states served by Legacy Hospice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and presentation software.
- Willingness to travel about 30% within the region using personal vehicle with valid driver's license and auto liability insurance.
