Role Overview

Join Auckland Council as a Housekeeping Attendant and play a vital role in creating exceptional experiences for visitors and clients at prominent venues such as Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Aotea Centre, Queens Wharf, Auckland Town Hall, The Civic, and Bruce Mason Centre. You will be entrusted with cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining these facilities before, during, and after events.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks under guidance of Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
  • Regularly clean and upkeep all designated areas within arts, events, and entertainment venues.
  • Maintain and care for building assets as directed.
  • Oversee storerooms and equipment; ensuring tidiness and reporting any repair needs.
  • Adhere strictly to safe usage of all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Ensure all workspaces are left clean and orderly.
  • Respond courteously and helpfully to any queries or requests from patrons or colleagues.
  • Maintain professionalism and efficiency in interacting with patrons and team members.
  • Attend all required training sessions and assist in training peers when necessary.
  • Contribute feedback on training needs for annual planning.
  • Understand cleaning schedules and provide timely notice if unable to comply.
  • Review event timetables to comprehend daily task requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • Capable of performing under pressure within a team setting.
  • Integrity and honesty in all duties performed.
  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail.

  • Skilled at building and maintaining relationships across diverse teams.
  • Previous housekeeping experience advantageous but not mandatory, as full training is provided.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude highly valued.
