The position sits within a two-year trainee programme and is designed to build practical experience across aircraft base maintenance operations while supporting senior leaders in the department.

The role works directly with the Deputy Director of Heavy Maintenance and the Head of Heavy Maintenance. It involves coordinating day-to-day communication with heavy maintenance sites across Europe, helping with ad hoc projects, and travelling occasionally to maintenance bases when required. The company is also expanding its fleet and network significantly over the next decade, making this a growth-focused environment.

  • Travel to heavy maintenance bases to support short-notice projects and operational needs.
  • Support projects assigned by the Heavy Maintenance Manager and Deputy Director of Heavy Maintenance.
  • Check base maintenance procedures and help ensure they remain current and compliant.
  • Build knowledge of how an aircraft base maintenance facility operates, including people management, rostering, audit closure, manpower planning, policy implementation, and invoice oversight.
  • Review cost information for each heavy maintenance base and verify that overspends are properly explained and stay within budget.
  • Prepare the weekly report by collecting the necessary inputs from all bases and consolidating them into one summary.
  • Provide support to other teams reporting into the Deputy Director of Heavy Maintenance, including Appearance.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, ideally in aircraft engineering or aeronautical engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Good organisational skills and the capacity to manage several priorities at once.
  • Confident computer use, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Exposure to AMOS is an advantage, though not mandatory.
  • Previous people-management experience is preferred.
  • Unrestricted permission to work and travel within the EU.

Training and development

The selected candidate will receive structured training across the operational and managerial aspects of running an aircraft base maintenance facility. The programme is intended to provide broad exposure to maintenance operations, reporting, cost control, compliance, and cross-team coordination.

  • Competitive remuneration.
  • Discounted, unlimited travel to more than 250 destinations.
  • Defined contribution pension scheme.
  • Death-in-service cover of up to twice the annual basic salary.
  • 20 days of annual leave, rising to 22 days after 12 months and 25 days after 3 years of continuous service.
