Role Summary
This full-time, site-based position in Sydney, NSW, is responsible for directing the entire procurement function across InvoCare’s operations. The role covers procurement planning, sourcing, purchasing, and supplier performance management, with the goal of securing high-quality goods and services in a cost-effective way for funeral, cemetery, and memorialisation operations.
Key Accountabilities
The Head of Procurement will manage supplier partnerships, lead commercial negotiations, oversee contract arrangements, and ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations. The role also involves improving procurement processes and systems, working with finance, operations, and senior leadership to forecast requirements, control budgets, reduce supply-chain exposure, and keep procurement activity aligned with business priorities and organisational values. In addition, the position leads and develops the procurement team while encouraging ethical sourcing, sustainability, and robust governance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong capability in supplier management and supplier assessment.
- Proven experience negotiating contracts and building commercial agreements.
- Practical involvement in purchasing and day-to-day operational procurement.
- Advanced procurement expertise, including category management, strategic sourcing, and cost reduction.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing procurement teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical judgement and comfort working with financial and data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication, influencing, and senior stakeholder engagement skills.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain, business, commerce, or a related area.
- Experience in service-oriented or multi-site businesses is beneficial, and exposure to regulated or sensitive sectors is an advantage.
