About the Role
Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking a skilled Graphic Designer to join its internal creative team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting the university's brand by producing innovative and engaging visual materials across campaigns, prospectuses, digital media, exhibitions, and signage. This position offers the opportunity to contribute fresh ideas and work on a wide variety of projects that enhance the university's visual identity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver creative outputs and evolve the university brand across print, exhibition, and digital platforms.
- Oversee creative projects from initial concept through to successful completion ensuring alignment with brand and campaign goals.
- Establish collaborative relationships across departments, offering design expertise and prompt creative services in-house.
- Maintain inclusivity, diversity, bilingual compliance, and brand standards in all creative materials.
- Work flexibly with at least one day per week on campus and remaining days from home or office.
Candidate Profile
An accomplished and imaginative designer with significant experience in marketing, communications, or design settings is sought. Applicants should possess a robust portfolio of recent commercial work in graphic, print, and digital media, demonstrating ability to craft compelling visual communications. Experience preparing artwork for professional print production and delivering high-quality design under tight deadlines is essential.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency with QuarkXPress 2026, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat within a Mac OS environment.
- Understanding of appropriate and effective use of imagery and illustration with respect to copyright, licensing, and legal issues.
- Experience producing bilingual content alongside familiarity or appreciation for Welsh language standards.
- Strong skills in typography, layout, and visual design with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills to engage productively with stakeholders and colleagues.
