Compensation

The total annual compensation including salary and bonus ranges from $500,000 to $1,000,000 contingent on achieving and exceeding individual and store performance targets.

Role Overview

The General Manager is fully accountable for the overall profitable operation of the dealership. This includes planning, directing, motivating, and coordinating the activities of all departments to ensure strong financial returns and smooth dealership performance aligned with shareholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and promote all Sonic Automotive Playbooks throughout dealership operations.
• Develop the annual operational plan and secure approval from Regional Vice President and senior leadership.
• Review and guide monthly forecasts and business plans presented by department managers.
• Ensure seamless and profitable cooperation across all dealership departments.
• Maintain productive relations with manufacturers and financial institutions.
• Guarantee timely submission of monthly financial statements by the 5th business day.
• Establish policies for training programs and continuously evaluate their effectiveness.
• Manage human resource functions including hiring, evaluating performance, recognizing achievements, and handling terminations.
• Approve employee compensation plans and ensure departmental training drives optimal staff performance.
• Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures among employees.
• Conduct biannual formal performance reviews of department managers.
• Provide positive leadership to foster employee motivation and team morale.
• Promote harmony and teamwork between departments.
• Organize regular managerial meetings.
• Coordinate with the business office for accurate record keeping and data analysis.
• Create merchandising strategies and assist in developing cost-effective advertising campaigns.
• Address unresolved customer complaints personally.
• Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong reading and comprehension skills for instructions and information.
• Minimum two years in dealership sales environments.
• At least five years in supervisory or managerial roles.
• Professional appearance and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Authorized to work legally in the United States.
• Safe execution of duties in accordance with company guidelines.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings including background checks, motor vehicle records, drug tests, credit reports, and possession of a valid driver’s license.

Compensation Details

Base salary is $5,600 per month, accompanied by bonus compensation based on sales performance with no upper limit, plus production bonuses dependent on individual or team achievements.
