About the Role and Company

Based in Camrose, Alberta, Pet Valu is part of a large family of pet stores across North America, including Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol, and Total Pet. These stores specialize in providing a wide range of products and food for various pets such as dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. Pet Valu actively supports the community by working alongside local shelters, charities, and rescue organizations through adoption events, pet food banks, and national fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve customers by operating the cash register and assisting with transactions.
• Prepare merchandise orders, handle bank deposits, and complete necessary paperwork.
• Stock small items (weighing less than 10 pounds) in sales areas.
• Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, dusting, and performing other general upkeep tasks.
• Assist in unloading deliveries containing pet food and supplies up to 50 pounds and stock them accordingly.
• Open and close the store following company protocols.
• When management is absent, delegate daily tasks and goals to associate team members.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of two years experience in retail or customer service environments.
• Familiarity with using POS (Point of Sale) systems.
• Friendly and outgoing personality with strong customer service aptitude.
• Physical ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands.
• Reliable transportation to commute to and from the store.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license might be necessary.
