Company Overview
Coinflow is an innovative payment service platform reshaping global financial infrastructure through the use of stablecoins, AI-powered fraud prevention, and instant transaction settlements. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Chicago, IL, Coinflow supports various industries including fintechs, marketplaces, remittance providers, gaming, and ecommerce merchants with features like instant settlements, chargeback & fraud indemnity, global pay-ins, multi-currency foreign exchange, and unified payout mechanisms. Following remarkable growth since its 2024 seed round, with 23x revenue increase and multi-billion-dollar yearly transaction volumes, Coinflow secured a $25 million Series A round in October 2025 led by prominent investors such as Pantera Capital and Coinbase Ventures, accelerating its mission to enable the fastest-moving global businesses with cutting-edge payment solutions.
Role Summary
This position is for a Frontend Engineer who is deeply experienced in both designing and coding user interactions and interfaces rather than focusing solely on one aspect. As the first dedicated frontend engineering hire, you will be responsible for establishing the design system from scratch, collaborating closely with the CTO and founding engineers to develop polished user interfaces directly from early product concepts without handoff delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a robust design system built upon shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS, including components, design tokens, patterns, and thorough documentation to enable seamless frontend development.
- Conceptualize, design, and deliver fully functional features independently — progressing from wireframing or high-fidelity prototypes through actual component development, data integration, and iterative refinements based on real-world usability.
- Revamp and enhance existing user interfaces for merchant onboarding, dashboards, and checkout flows to improve polish while preserving performance.
- Define the visual style and user experience of a fintech platform, ensuring the application conveys trust, speed, and precision fitting for payment systems rather than casual consumer apps.
- Architect scalable and reusable frontend structures, with strategic decisions on component modularity, theming, and future growth.
- Work in tight partnership with backend engineers to accurately represent complex backend processes such as multi-chain settlements, card network interactions, and fraud detection states in the frontend without oversimplifying.
Candidate Requirements
- Expertise with shadcn/ui, Radix primitives, Tailwind CSS, and React with TypeScript, including deep understanding of component composition principles.
- Proven track record of independently designing and implementing entire products or features, demonstrated through a portfolio or GitHub repositories (beyond just isolated components or design mockups).
- Strong product design acumen encompassing typography, spacing, color theory, information architecture, and ability to distill complex, data-rich interfaces into intuitive experiences suitable for financial applications.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ownership over defining interaction patterns, beyond merely executing predetermined specs.
- Experience in creating or significantly improving production-grade design systems, including their version management, theming variations, and documentation to support team scalability.
- Preferable but not required: background in fintech, cryptocurrency, or data-sensitive trust-centric product areas.
- Bonus skills: familiarity with Next.js, React Native, or animation libraries like Framer Motion or GSAP.
Work Culture
The team operates within a small, high-trust, low-bureaucracy environment, with rapid turnaround cycles releasing features within days rather than traditional sprint frameworks. The focus emphasizes practical craftsmanship and user experience durability over adhering to pixel-perfect designs that delay launches.
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time position offers a base salary range between $150,000 and $180,000 USD, depending on qualifications including experience and skills. Additional compensation includes an equity award enabling participation in the company's long-term success. Employees also gain access to comprehensive benefits such as health and wellness programs, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, and flexible paid time off policies.
Opportunity
Become part of a pioneering organization transforming the $194 trillion cross-border payments market and help revolutionize how money moves globally.
