Role Overview

1280 Labs is hiring a Frontend Developer to create responsive, dependable, and polished web applications. You will work with design, product, and engineering stakeholders to transform concepts into refined user experiences. The role involves shaping frontend structure, developing reusable UI pieces, connecting to APIs, and improving application performance and quality. It is well suited to someone who enjoys modern interface development, component-driven frameworks, and owning frontend features through launch.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support modern web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, or comparable frontend technologies.
• Design interfaces that are responsive, accessible, and easy to use on both desktop and mobile devices.
• Partner with designers to convert wireframes and product specifications into refined user interfaces.
• Connect frontend applications with APIs, backend systems, and external tools.
• Work on frontend speed, code quality, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Take part in code reviews, technical planning, and architecture conversations.
• Diagnose issues, fix bugs, and provide support for production systems.
• Help strengthen frontend processes, reusable component patterns, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience building and maintaining production web applications.
• Strong command of modern JavaScript or TypeScript for frontend development.
• Hands-on experience with React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, or similar frameworks.
• Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, browser behavior, and frontend architecture.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, authentication, state management, and application performance.
• Understanding of Git, code review workflows, testing, and collaborative software development.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Clear communication skills and a practical, solution-oriented approach.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Preferred Skills

• TypeScript experience.
• Experience with design systems or reusable component libraries.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
• Experience with Next.js, Tailwind CSS, GraphQL, or current frontend tooling.
• Exposure to backend development, APIs, cloud services, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Interest in AI tools, automation, integrations, or modern developer workflows.

Compensation

The salary range is CAD 120,000 to CAD 170,000 per year, with the final offer based on experience.
