Position Summary
This role involves managing all guest check-ins by verifying reservations, allocating rooms, and issuing room keys. The clerk handles various payment methods including room charges, cash, checks, debit, and credit cards, and processes guest check-outs, resolving any outstanding or disputed payments efficiently.
Responsibilities include answering and managing guest calls, messages, and requests, coordinating with housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready for check-in, guiding guests on parking procedures, and dispatching bell or valet staff accordingly. The clerk provides guests with directions and detailed information about the property and local attractions.
Daily operational duties involve running reports such as arrivals and departures, noting special requests, verifying report accuracy, generating cashier and closing reports in the system, handling guests' personal and traveler's checks, managing cash banks at shift start and end, and ensuring receipts are balanced and submitted as per accounting standards.
The position requires adherence to all company safety and security protocols, reporting incidents or unsafe conditions, maintaining professional appearance and confidentiality, protecting company assets, and delivering outstanding guest service with professionalism and genuine appreciation. Communication must be clear and polite, including proper telephone etiquette. Building positive relationships and complying with quality assurance standards is essential. Physically, the role involves standing, sitting, or walking for long periods, as well as handling light objects up to 10 pounds. Other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors must also be performed.
Qualifications
The role requires a minimum education level of high school diploma or GED equivalent. No prior related work or supervisory experience is necessary. Licenses or certifications are not required.
