Freelance Video Editor – Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled freelance video editor to join an editorial podcast project that delves into single word themes from Caribbean diaspora and Black cultural viewpoints. This contract position entails editing video and audio for a full season consisting of 15 episodes—including 12 solo episodes of approximately 30 minutes each and 3 guest episodes lasting about 45 minutes each. The desired editing style is warm and editorial with deliberate pacing, focusing on showcasing impactful pull-quote moments without excessive hype.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and finalize 15 podcast episodes (both video and audio): 12 solo episodes of 30 minutes and 3 guest episodes of 45 minutes each.
• Produce polished, color-corrected YouTube videos featuring clean and clear lower third graphics for every episode.
• Export high-fidelity audio versions of each episode.
• Create three vertically formatted, social media-ready clips per episode that highlight key moments.
• Maintain a warm and culturally resonant visual tone consistent with the content's themes.
• Apply intentional pacing and restrained editing techniques, avoiding overly dynamic edits.
• Work collaboratively on feedback and incorporate revisions as requested.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated experience editing both video and audio for podcasts, supported by 2 to 3 examples of previous podcast video editing work.
• Proficiency in video editing applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro as well as audio editing software.
• A strong eye for visual storytelling, including expertise in color correction and designing effective lower third elements.
• Ability to emulate the reference editing styles provided.
• Familiarity with Caribbean diaspora and Black cultural issues is preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail ensuring consistent quality throughout the episodes.
• Dependable on a weekly basis with the capacity to meet agreed deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and responsiveness during the editing phase.

Additional Information

The reference editing styles include work similar to "We Don’t Always Agree with Ryan & Sterling" and "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer." This is a remote, contract position with no stated salary.
