About Mindrift and the Role
Mindrift is seeking experienced Bot Developers skilled in WhatsApp Business API, Telegram Bot API, and Discord API to join the Tendem project. As an AI Pilot at Mindrift, you will develop and maintain conversational bots integrated into a hybrid AI-human system. This part-time, remote freelance position involves collaborating with Tendem Agents who manage repetitive tasks while you focus on bot engineering, conversational design, and ensuring bot reliability for end users.
Responsibilities
- Develop bots for various messaging platforms including WhatsApp (Business API/Cloud API), Telegram, Discord, Slack, and others.
- Create and implement conversational flows, dialogue management, and error fallback strategies.
- Integrate bots with large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) to facilitate natural language interactions where suitable.
- Link bots with backend systems, databases, CRMs, and third-party APIs such as booking, payment, and content delivery services.
- Manage platform-specific technical requirements including webhooks, rate limits, message formats (interactive messages, buttons, media, templates).
- Review and optimize AI-generated bot code to enhance accuracy, robustness, and error handling.
- Set up logging, monitoring, and recovery processes to maintain bot health in production environments.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience in backend development, integration, automation, or bot development.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field is advantageous.
- At least one year hands-on experience developing bots on major messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or Slack.
- Proficient in Python or Node.js for backend bot logic implementation.
- Expertise with REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and asynchronous requests.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases to manage conversational state and user information.
- Familiarity with large language model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) and prompt engineering is a plus.
- Understanding platform-specific constraints like message templates and approval processes, especially for WhatsApp.
- Experience deploying and hosting solutions using Docker, serverless platforms, VPS, or PaaS.
- Strong attention to detail ensuring bot reliability and uninterrupted workflows.
- Ability to independently design and deliver complete bot solutions.
- Portfolio demonstrating previous bot development projects is mandatory.
- Upper-intermediate or higher proficiency in English (B2 or above).
Project Time and Compensation
The workload during active project phases is approximately 10-20 hours weekly, varying with project demand; this is a flexible estimate without guaranteed hours. Compensation can reach up to 60 USD per hour depending on expertise and contribution speed. Rates may differ across other projects based on complexity and requirements.
