Foreshore Ranger - Anglesea

Overview

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is seeking an on-site Foreshore Ranger based in Anglesea, Victoria. This role involves hands-on maintenance and enhancement of some of Victoria's most renowned coastal reserves, beaches, parks, and visitor amenities. The Authority cares for parks, reserves, and marine areas along the Great Ocean Road, collaborating closely with Traditional Owners, local communities, and stakeholders to protect environmental and cultural assets while encouraging sustainable visitor engagement and long-term conservation.

Key Duties

• Maintain foreshore reserves and visitor facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and high standards.
• Perform groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, brush cutting, pruning, trimming, and litter removal.
• Carry out minor repairs including carpentry, painting, concreting, and general facility upkeep.
• Operate and maintain diverse plant, machinery, and tools necessary for maintenance work.
• Implement weed control, revegetation, fencing, and landscaping projects.
• Assist with track, path, and beach access maintenance operations.
• Support small projects across coastal reserves and caravan parks.
• Provide assistance during community events including setup, pack-down, and beach accessibility initiatives.
• Engage professionally and respectfully with visitors, contractors, community members, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in team safety, risk management, and planning sessions.
• Contribute actively to protecting and presenting the coastal environments of the Great Ocean Road.

Qualifications and Skills

• Relevant experience in grounds maintenance, land management, facilities servicing, trades, or a related field.
• Possession of trade qualifications, certificates, or diplomas associated with foreshore operations is advantageous.
• Practical knowledge and safe operation of plants, machinery, and maintenance equipment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical, hands-on approach.
• Effective communication skills and capacity to engage positively with diverse individuals.
• Proficiency in using email, mobile apps, and other digital tools for regular work functions.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a small team environment and foster a positive workplace culture.
• Current or willingness to obtain First Aid certification.
• Possession of a valid Australian Driver's Licence.
• Eligibility to successfully acquire a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.

Additional Information

• This position may require weekend shifts during busy visitation periods such as Christmas and Easter, with restricted annual leave options during these times.
• Penalty rates could apply in line with the relevant Enterprise Agreement.
