Food Scientist

About the Role

We invite you to become a vital part of our team as a Food Scientist, bringing technical expertise and leadership to various departments including Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and R&D. This role entails active involvement in food science projects where you will coordinate cross-functional teams to pioneer new products, enhance existing offerings, and implement cost-effective alternatives. Additionally, you will act as the key technical liaison ensuring food safety and stringent product quality in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing teams to define and oversee process parameters that improve manufacturing control.
• Minimize process variability to maintain stability and minimal deviation during production.
• Collaborate in cross-departmental teams to innovate new products.
• Formulate evaluation methods for current products while researching emerging technologies to create superior alternatives.
• Update and maintain standards and specifications in response to evolving regulatory and client requirements.
• Ensure all products comply with internal standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Play an integral role in new product development cycles.
• Work closely with plant teams during production scale-up and trial batches.
• Provide practical, hands-on guidance throughout new product manufacturing phases.
• Supervise product stability and shelf life evaluations.
• Participate in scientific meetings and seminars to stay abreast of advances in Quality Assurance, Process Development, and Manufacturing.
• Develop laboratory prototypes for benchtop testing.
• Manage relationships with vendors, external laboratories, and consultants.
• Explore and implement cost-saving strategies via automation and computerization.
• Identify, lead, and drive continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline is required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience with statistical data analysis.
• Comprehensive knowledge of FDA, USDA, and GMP standards relevant to food manufacturing facilities.
• Strong understanding of food safety practices, including HACCP and GMP sanitary design and controls.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills paired with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail with an outcome-driven approach.
• Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

Compensation

The base annual salary ranges from $81,772 to $136,287. Compensation will be finalized based on numerous considerations such as role responsibilities, prior experience, skills, education, location, and internal equity. Note that hiring at the upper end of the salary scale is rare.
