About Alpine Eagle

Alpine Eagle is an innovative and expanding international deep-tech company focused on pioneering the next generation of counter-drone defense systems. Situated at the convergence of aerospace engineering, defense technology, and machine learning, the company is developing the world's first airborne swarm-based counter-drone platform to tackle emerging threats on modern battlefields.

Role Overview and Impact

As a Flight Physics & Flight Controls Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing sophisticated flight control strategies that manage attitude, rate, position, and advanced modes of flight. You will develop and refine detailed models of aircraft dynamics encompassing aerodynamics, propulsion, and actuator responses. Your work will enhance flight performance through precise controller tuning and stability assessments. You will create high-fidelity simulations such as Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL), validating these models against empirical flight data, and analyze flight logs to investigate instabilities, coupling phenomena, and performance limitations. Additionally, you will bridge the gap between simulation and reality by enhancing model precision through parameter identification and collaborate closely with navigation, perception, and hardware teams to ensure consistent, safe flight behavior. Active participation in flight testing campaigns and rapid iteration based on experimental feedback will also be key to this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge in flight mechanics, dynamics, and control systems theory.
  • Proficiency in classical and advanced control methodologies including PID, LQR, MPC, observer design, and filtering techniques.
  • Capability to assess the stability and performance of nonlinear dynamic systems.
  • Academic qualifications preferably at the MSc or PhD level in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Control Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience with flight control firmware such as PX4 or Ardupilot.
  • Competency in using Python-based modeling and simulation tools.
  • Pragmatic approach with the ability to translate theoretical control concepts into effective, real-world applications on aircraft.
  • Enjoyment and aptitude for troubleshooting and experimentally validating physical systems.

Diversity and Inclusion

Alpine Eagle is strongly committed to fostering an inclusive work environment that embraces diversity. We encourage and welcome applications from all individuals irrespective of ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, age, or sexual orientation.
