Job purpose
The Fire Marshal role sits within the site Emergency Response Team and focuses on preventing emergencies, protecting the plant, and supporting a safe workplace for all employees. The position covers fire response, rescue support, and handling other unforeseen incidents, along with regular prevention, inspection, maintenance, and training activities. The role may also involve additional duties assigned by the Fire and Security Department.
Key accountabilities
- Follow the command structure and report to the Supervisor.
- React quickly and safely to emergency calls and assistance requests, carrying out assigned emergency duties as part of a disciplined team.
- Keep emergency equipment ready for immediate use by cleaning, testing, repairing, and checking it against approved standards and procedures, including fire hydrants and fixed fire detection and suppression systems used by the ERT.
- Take part in ongoing training and development through lectures, drills, practice scenarios, exercises, courses, and similar learning activities to maintain competency.
- Maintain the expected standard of fitness, hygiene, personal appearance, and uniform cleanliness required for the job.
- Support internal training for EGA employees, such as Fire Warden and Fire Induction sessions.
- Carry out salvage work after incidents, including protecting affected equipment and plant, and clearing water and debris.
- Clean and check equipment and apparatus after incident response.
- Inspect equipment and apparatus and report defects or shortages to ERT Management.
- Complete minor equipment repairs, routine preventive maintenance, and related recordkeeping.
- Keep the fire station, tools, equipment, and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
- Build and retain detailed knowledge of the plant layout, hazards, topography, firefighting water sources, unusual risks, and related site information.
- Record inspections, training activities, and fire/emergency responses in the relevant logbooks.
- Carry out duties in line with EGA policies and procedures.
- Work safely at all times, report unsafe acts and conditions, and follow EGA safety policy and accident prevention, reporting, and monitoring requirements.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of activities across all plant areas.
- Perform fire inspections and audits, fire risk assessments, and pre-incident planning.
- Test, inspect, and maintain fire protection and detection systems and equipment according to department procedures, with full recordkeeping of relevant details.
- Assist medical staff with casualty handling when needed.
Qualifications and skills
The role requires recognized firefighter certification and HAZMAT and first aid credentials, along with prior experience in fire service or fire safety/engineering environments. Strong written and spoken English is also needed.

This position is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and is a full-time onsite role.
