Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration and collaborating closely with the Finance team, the Financial Analyst will ensure smooth and accurate financial and accounting operations within the organization. This role also involves managing and supervising the Accounts Payable Administrator to guarantee accuracy and timeliness of transactional procedures under the shared services model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute month-end processes, such as journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet and statement of operations account reviews.
  • Manage various finance tasks including bank deposits, accounts receivable, and journal entries.
  • Engage in annual budgeting activities and monitor budget variances on a monthly basis.
  • Support program managers in budget monitoring and planning to effectively manage program goals and outcomes.
  • Conduct year-end closing tasks including adjusting journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.
  • Assist in preparing audit documentation, schedules, and collaborate with auditors for annual audits.
  • Prepare documents for funder audits and compliance monitoring, ensuring 3606kids' interests are supported during these activities.
  • Maintain and update lease continuity schedules aligned with program rent logs.
  • Issue year-end rent tax receipts for youths assisted by the organization.
  • Complete bi-annual Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) returns.
  • Apply for and submit annual property tax rebates.
  • Prepare and file the annual Charity Return and Information form to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports for program managers and funders, including analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Produce specialized financial analyses and reports for leadership and stakeholders to facilitate decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Supervise and assist the Accounts Payable Administrator to ensure promptness and precision in transactional duties.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance with advanced knowledge in these fields.
  • CPA designation or candidates actively pursuing this credential are preferred.
  • A minimum of three years' relevant experience, ideally within a nonprofit context.
  • Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check) required.
  • Proficient in Sage Intacct financial software is mandatory.
  • Skilled in corporate productivity tools including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with organization-specific platforms such as Ceridian Dayforce, RBC Express, and AHT payments.
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capability to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, engaging effectively with staff at all levels, the public, and clients while maintaining professionalism.
