Role Summary

The Fabrication Estimator role, based at the Niagara Falls office, reports to the Estimating Manager. The position involves estimating costs and managing pre-construction activities for fabrication projects. Responsibilities include coordinating pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, analyzing fabrication stages to establish efficient and cost-effective project sequences.

Primary Responsibilities

Examine bid packages to assess required resources for quotation requests
Ensure comprehensive and cost-efficient tender estimations
Create detailed bid packages and scopes for subcontractors; act as the single point of contact for sub-contracted special processes involved in fabrication
Aggregate pricing and assess proposals from various sources
Evaluate costs related to rentals, tools, equipment, and non-productive labor
Participate in tender proposals by reviewing terms, bonding, insurance, breakdowns, organizational charts, resumes, company experience, craft rates, mark-ups, schedules, and execution plans
Collaborate with Estimating Manager post-estimation to verify factors such as labor productivity, indirect labor needs, equipment requirements, overhead, and profits
Compile material takeoffs
Engage in post-tender activities including sales coordination, tender reviews, negotiations, project initiation, and ongoing support for awarded contracts
Attend kickoff meetings as necessary
Stay informed on market trends impacting fabrication costs
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ASME codes, TSSA standards, piping codes, contract laws, material specifications, schedules, labor/material supply factors, and modern fabrication techniques

Qualifications & Expertise

Community college degree, diploma in a technical field, or equivalent experience in construction trades
Understanding of fabricated components and associated processes
Experience in project scheduling
Familiarity with welding methods and equipment used in fabrication
Knowledge of ASME pressure vessel and piping code standards

The offered salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000 annually, with final compensation depending on qualifications and experience.
