Role Summary

The Expansion Manager will spearhead the sales market growth by directing expansion strategies, managing portfolios, and planning investments to ensure profitability and alignment with H&M's long-term objectives. This hybrid role reports to the General Manager, Canada, and is based in the Toronto Support Office.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Expansion function within the sales market.
• Facilitate optimal team and individual performance conditions.
• Identify, develop, and manage talent to build a prepared and diverse workforce.
• Promote teamwork and foster cross-departmental collaboration.
• Develop and execute the sales market expansion and portfolio plan aligned with global strategies and brand plans.
• Drive sales productivity, profitability, cost management, set investment parameters, and sustainability targets.
• Assess and provide feedback on CAPEX budget allocation, suggesting adjustments as needed.
• Formulate a clear vision for retail spaces focusing on customers, in line with global direction.
• Apply commercial insights to portfolio strategies based on sales data and consumer trends through catchment analysis.
• Oversee project management and ensure strategic consistency across key cities.
• Implement the global Omni Store Operating Model.
• Roll out technical capabilities to maximize benefits from products and value streams.
• Co-lead expansion audits ensuring projects meet corporate expectations.
• Ensure professionalism in dealings with external partners and adhere to legal and ethical contractual standards.
• Review and approve store network projects with market-level approval, continually enhancing business cases and legal documentation.
• Maintain effective communication between the sales market and global functions, advocating for the market while enabling team synergies.
• Act as a strategic partner to the Sales Market General Manager.
• Promote collaboration both within and beyond the sales market teams.
• Ensure professional standards across all teams within your sales market.

Candidate Profile

• Proven leadership and coaching skills with strong stakeholder management experience.
• Strategic thinker capable of balancing long-term goals with immediate actions.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Analytical and results-oriented with sound financial understanding.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Proficient with MS Office applications.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in expansion or senior leadership roles within similar functions.
• Strong knowledge of expansion strategy, leasing, construction, and facilities management.
• Experience leading and developing teams in complex, international settings.
• Successful background working in matrix organizations with multiple stakeholders at various seniority levels.
• Communicative, confident, supportive, combining analytical and creative problem-solving with decisiveness and resilience.

Compensation

The salary for this salaried exempt position is $139,630 CAD. This amount is an estimate reflecting market conditions and candidate qualifications and may be subject to change.
