Role Overview
The Environmental Services Assistant will support nursing staff by assisting with non-clinical patient care tasks such as safe lifting and transportation. This role involves active participation in emergency response efforts, managing specimen collection and delivery, handling equipment and consumables, and maintaining stock levels.
Additionally, the position requires performing cleaning and waste management duties, including general and terminal cleaning of internal and external hospital spaces to uphold cleanliness standards and reduce healthcare-associated infections.
Candidate Profile
- Proficient in reading and writing English to perform duties safely and effectively.
- Physically capable of frequent pushing or pulling of mobile waste bins, patient beds, and trolleys.
- Knowledgeable about workplace health, safety, and infection control practices.
- Willingness and ability to work variable shifts, including 24/7 rostered hours if necessary.
Employment Details
- Position Classification: Hospital Assistant Grade 2.
- Employment Types: Various temporary and permanent opportunities available.
- Salary: Full-time equivalent base salary of AUD 59,919.26 (excluding superannuation, leave loading, and salary packaging).
- Hours per week: up to 38 hours.
- Location: Westmead, New South Wales, Australia.

Mandatory Requirements & Notices

- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children’s Guardian is required before starting.
