Role Overview

Join Cashfree Payments as an Engineering Manager where you'll architect and lead the development of scalable, low-latency backend services and APIs utilizing Java. This role demands leadership in code quality, adherence to SOLID principles, and secure coding standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust backend microservices, RESTful and gRPC APIs with real-time streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or Kinesis for payment processing.
• Lead architecture reviews and drive best practices including agile delivery within the engineering team.
• Handle complex distributed systems with advanced communication patterns, circuit breakers, load balancing, and tracing.
• Optimize API performance and database query efficiency at scale, emphasizing strong test-driven development and performance profiling.
• Manage DevOps pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code to enable automated, reliable deployments.
• Collaborate with senior technical leadership to address in-depth concurrency challenges and JVM bottlenecks.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive backend software engineering experience (8+ years), with deep expertise in Java ecosystem including Java 11+, JVM internals, and memory management.
• At least 2 years acting in a Technical Lead role mentoring teams, resolving blockers, and steering tech roadmaps.
• Hands-on knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and ORM tools such as Hibernate or JPA.
• Strong operational experience with AWS cloud infrastructure components like EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS, ElastiCache, and a solid grasp of cloud networking and security.
• Professional competency in RDBMS such as MySQL and PostgreSQL including query optimization, indexing, locking, and transaction isolation levels, plus experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Cassandra.
• Familiarity with distributed caching solutions such as Redis/Memcached, rate limiting strategies, idempotent API design, and managing state in distributed environments.
