Role Overview
This position focuses on the technical and operational aspects of piping engineering, particularly in the context of turbine generator (TG) components. It demands expertise in machining, fabrication processes, cost estimation, vendor management, and comprehensive understanding of technical drawings and design standards.
Technical Skills & Process Knowledge
- Develop and define machining or fabrication processes for turbine generator components.
- Understand machine operations and associated technical details relevant to equipment and processes.
- Comprehend fabrication workflows with an emphasis on welding technologies.
- Apply architectural and engineering drawing standards, particularly Drawing Control Index (DCI) protocols.
- Interpret and analyze technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, general arrangement (GFC), and shop drawings.
- Grasp design parameters including specifications, dimensions, materials, and construction methods essential for accurate engineering planning and project implementation.
Cost Estimation & Negotiation
- Compute cost estimations encompassing various operations and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of machining procedures, tooling configurations, and cutting parameters.
- Utilize industry standards, best practices, and historical financial benchmarks to evaluate and compare project costs effectively.
Vendor Management
- Identify, engage, and evaluate vendors both technically and financially.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal contracts regarding pricing, delivery, and terms.
- Manage work and purchase orders to facilitate timely procurement of quality materials and services.
- Resolve vendor issues and ensure adherence to compliance and cost-efficiency standards, supporting smooth project execution.
- Collaborate with other departments and project teams to align outsourcing decisions with organizational objectives.
- Maintain awareness of market trends to leverage new outsourcing and technology opportunities.
- Place purchase and service orders to selected vendors.
Vendor Evaluation
- Analyze vendor landscapes considering capabilities, pricing, quality, delivery timelines, compliance, and historical performance.
- Assess total lifecycle costs to select vendors that best meet company operation and strategic goals.
