Overview
Join our Global Engineering Design team as an individual contributor, focusing on the product development life cycle for both automotive interior and exterior systems. You will be responsible for creating detailed CAD models of components including instrument panels, door trims, hard trims, fascias, and functional trims, ensuring designs meet engineering standards and program specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead component and subsystem design assignments
- Create 3D CAD models using CATIA V5/V6 following engineering guidelines
- Ensure timely delivery of designs with a focus on quality and program schedules
- Execute digital pre-assembly processes and maintain precise Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Perform clearance analyses for both static and dynamic conditions
- Align CAD models closely with BOM structures
- Incorporate design enhancements based on CAE/CFD analysis and test data
- Apply knowledge of plastic design and manufacturing techniques
- Manage and update CAD data within PLM software platforms such as Teamcenter or 3DEXPERIENCE
- Collaborate with Design & Release engineers and other interdisciplinary teams
- Engage in design review sessions and support continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 4 years of practical experience in automotive design and product development
- Strong proficiency with CATIA V5; experience in V6 is advantageous
- Background working with automotive interior or exterior systems
Technical Competencies
- Expertise in CATIA V5/V6 software
- Hands-on experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools including Teamcenter or 3DEXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with digital pre-assembly processes and effective BOM management
- Understanding of design principles for manufacturing, especially with plastics
- Exposure to CAE and CFD methods for informing design improvements
- Knowledge of engineering quality processes such as FMEA
