Job Overview

The Trust is initiating recruitment for the Endoscopy Staff Nurse role at NHS Band 5 level, with an annual salary ranging from A332,073 to A339,043. This is a full-time, permanent position comprising 37.5 working hours per week. The successful candidates will join a motivated team operating five full-time Endoscopy suites along with an unsedated nurse-led satellite unit at Gosport War Memorial. The post holder will be expected to work across all PHU locations, including the forthcoming Elective Endoscopy Centre launching in early 2025.

Role Summary

The primary focus is to serve as the registered nurse collaborating with Senior Healthcare Support Workers and Endoscopists, delivering advanced clinical care utilizing cutting-edge endoscopic technology. This equipment facilitates the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of gastrointestinal tract conditions. The role is technically demanding and physically challenging but offers substantial professional satisfaction.

Working Hours and Pattern

Working hours span Monday to Sunday, from 08:00 to 22:00. The schedule may be negotiable to accommodate successful applicants and is subject to change as the service expands.

Eligibility and Qualifications

• Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration is mandatory.
• Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• BSc degree in a relevant field is desirable but not essential.

Experience and Skills Requirements

• Clinical competence at Band 5 level is essential.
• Understanding of research and evidence-based clinical practices pertinent to the area.
• Strong interpersonal communication and advocacy abilities.
• Teaching, mentoring, team-building, and organisational skills.
• Capacity to prioritise workload, guide, and instruct others effectively.
• Proficiency in health promotion and customer service skills.
• Computer literacy with knowledge of patient administration systems is preferable.
• Prior experience in endoscopy and resource management, policy development is advantageous.
• Adaptability to evolving workplace environments, intravenous therapy skills, and mentoring capabilities are additional positives.
