Role overview
The position involves working with skilled teams supporting Transpower’s national grid, an essential part of New Zealand’s infrastructure. The work is practical and site-based, with outdoor locations involved while contributing to the upkeep and improvement of systems that keep the country powered.
Key duties
- Install, service, and commission high-voltage equipment such as transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and VT/CT units.
- Take part in fault response work to help restore supply quickly and safely.
- Carry out low-voltage electrical tasks within substations.
- Support grid upgrade projects and asset replacement programmes across the network.
- Help ensure electricity network sites operate safely and reliably.
About you
You should bring current EWRB registration and a practising licence, along with a full clean New Zealand Class 1 driver licence. A Class 2 licence would be an added advantage. Previous electrical experience is required, preferably in the high-voltage sector. You’ll also need strong communication skills, practical troubleshooting ability, and a clear commitment to health and safety.
