About the Role

Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) in Invercargill, New Zealand, is seeking five dedicated Electrical Tutors to support the education of future electricians. These permanent full-time positions focus on delivering practical, industry-relevant electrical trades programmes to full-time and secondary-tertiary learners on campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engaging teaching that aligns with current electrical trade industry standards.
• Manage teaching processes and learning outcomes effectively.
• Develop students' practical electrical skills and workplace readiness.
• Foster positive relationships and provide ongoing support and motivation to students.
• Complete necessary administrative tasks linked to programme delivery.
• Maintain up-to-date vocational knowledge in the electrical field.
• Enhance teaching and assessment capabilities through continual professional development.
• Participate in reviewing and improving programmes to meet evolving industry requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification.
• Current Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) Practising Licence.
• Strong industrial experience with dedication to high professional standards.
• Previous teaching experience preferred but not mandatory; SIT supports obtaining a New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Passion for developing future electrical tradespeople.
